Vayaskara Aryan Narayanan Mooss

He was the most prominent of the Ashta Vaidyas that Kerala ever produced. He was a great scholar in Sanskrit as well as in the science of Ayurveda. As an Ayurvedic Physician no parallel to him could be drawn from the past or the present of Kerala. His treatments were so effective and to some extent miraculous that people considered him to be gifted with some divine power.
He was physician to the late Maharajas of Travancore and had won many gifts from them. Apart from these qualities he was a great poet and a literary patron. The wealth that he has contributed to the Sanskrit and Malayalam literatures are not little. During his time he had a literary club under him and many poets of Kerala enjoyed his patronage. Duryodhanavadham Kathakali, Syena Sandesam and Nakshatra Vrittavali are some This excellent literary works.
